Arizona Diamondbacks – Top Prospects of 2025

The Arizona Diamondbacks have built one of the most exciting and balanced farm systems in Major League Baseball, blending high-upside talent with polished, near-ready contributors. As the franchise continues to contend in the National League, a steady wave of prospects is poised to make an impact in 2025 and beyond. From elite athletes like Jordan Lawlar and Druw Jones to breakout performers such as Demetrio Crisantes and Ryan Waldschmidt, Arizona’s pipeline is brimming with future stars across the diamond. Here’s a closer look at the top 10 prospects in the Diamondbacks organization as we head into the 2025 season.

1. Jordan Lawlar – SS

A dynamic shortstop and former top-10 draft pick, Lawlar boasts a rare combination of elite athleticism, above-average defense, and offensive upside. He features plus speed, quick hands, and improving power, which helped him post a strong line in Triple-A (.336 AVG before promotion). After a brief MLB cameo in 2023, he’s expected to take over as the franchise’s everyday shortstop in 2025 and projects as a perennial All-Star if health holds.

2. Demetrio Crisantes – INF

One of the biggest risers in Arizona’s system, Crisantes is a high-contact hitter with an advanced approach well beyond his age. At just 20, he excelled across multiple levels in 2024, hitting .341 with exceptional bat-to-ball skills and plate discipline. Though he lacks big raw power, his ability to hit to all fields and steal bases makes him an intriguing top-of-the-order candidate. His future position is still in flux, but second base appears most likely.

3. Slade Caldwell – OF

Caldwell is a left-handed outfielder with a compact frame and elite plate discipline, drawing comparisons to Brett Gardner. His OBP regularly exceeds .400 thanks to excellent pitch recognition, and he’s stolen double-digit bases while flashing occasional pop. While not a big slugger, he fits the modern mold of a sparkplug leadoff hitter with gap power and standout defense in left or center field.

4. Yilber Díaz – RHP

Díaz has the best pure stuff in the system among starters, headlined by a mid-90s fastball, a sharp slider, and a surprisingly advanced changeup. He dominated in Double-A before earning a look at the MLB level in late 2024. If he can refine his command, especially limiting walks, he projects as a mid-rotation starter with strikeout upside. The D-backs may give him a long audition in the second half of 2025.

5. Adrian Del Castillo – C

Del Castillo is a bat-first catcher who continues to improve behind the plate. A former standout at Miami, he brings left-handed power and a mature approach to the dish. While his receiving skills and arm strength are average, he’s made significant strides in game-calling and blocking. In 2024, he hit over .280 with double-digit home runs in Triple-A, and could challenge for backup or even platoon duties at catcher this year.

6. Ryan Waldschmidt – OF

Waldschmidt has quickly gained attention with his blend of speed, on-base skills, and surprising pop. His 2024 campaign featured a slash line near .320/.480/.560, showing off a patient approach and quick hands. Though his swing is unconventional, it works, and scouts love his makeup and hustle. He projects as a high-floor, low-risk outfielder with fourth outfielder or potential everyday upside in left field.

7. Druw Jones – OF

The son of Andruw Jones, Druw possesses elite defensive instincts and arm strength in center field, giving him Gold Glove potential. Offensively, he’s still a work in progress, with strikeout issues and streaky contact. However, the raw power and athleticism are undeniable. If he can make more consistent contact, he could become a five-tool superstar. Injuries have slowed his development, but 2025 is a make-or-break season for his bat.

8. Tommy Troy – INF

Troy is a high-energy infielder with an aggressive approach at the plate and plus speed on the bases. Drafted out of Stanford, he brings versatility defensively, capable of playing second base, third, or even shortstop in a pinch. He hit .290 with 16 homers and 25 steals in 2024 across High-A and Double-A. Scouts love his instincts and see him as a future everyday infielder with 20/20 potential.

9. Jansel Luis – INF

Luis is a bat-first middle infielder with quick hands and excellent barrel control. While his power is below average, his ability to spray the ball to all fields and make consistent contact gives him a high floor. He’s shown steady improvement with pitch selection and profiles well as a utility infielder or a high-contact second baseman. His quiet, steady game could earn him a big-league debut in 2026.

10. Gino Groover – 3B/1B

Groover is a power-hitting corner infielder who shows potential to hit in the middle of a big-league lineup. He has a short, explosive swing and excellent raw power to all fields, but questions remain about his defensive home—first base seems most likely. If the bat continues to play (he slugged over .500 with 20+ HRs in 2024), he’ll be in the mix for a future DH or 1B role.
